Overview

The quantum-classical interface has always posed challenging problems in fundamental physics, with implications in a variety of different contexts, from thermodynamics to condensed matter systems, and the theory of gravity. Different manifestations of phenomena at this interface occur in both closed and open systems, which are studied by fully quantum and, in some cases, hybrid quantum-classical descriptions.

Within the project network Quantum Biology and the Arrow of Time, we are pleased to announce a one-day international meeting on the topic of “quantum-classical interface in closed and open systems”. This meeting is meant to bring together experts working on open quantum systems, hybrid quantum-classical systems, and related topics from different perspectives.

Invited speakers

  • Dorje Brody (University of Surrey, UK)
  • Lajos Diósi (Wigner Research Centre for Physics, Budapest, HU)
  • Rosario Lo Franco (University of Palermo, IT)
  • Giovanni Manfredi (CNRS and University of Strasbourg, FR)
  • Ahsan Nazir (University of Manchester, UK)
  • Marcel Reginatto (National Metrology Institute, Braunschweig, DE).
