As part of the Surrey/ICE Scholarship Scheme, I matched with civil engineering contractor BAM Nuttall, who provided me with both financial sponsorship and placement opportunities whilst studying.

The university’s placement team was incredibly helpful and motivating throughout the entire process. Despite the setbacks, their unwavering belief and support were a massive reason I was able to acquire my placement.

Placement was the best way to get valuable work experience and cement my theoretical experiences at university. I feel well-equipped to join the engineering workforce post-graduation as a result of my placement.

Going to Sydney was without a doubt the best six months of my life. I’ve always wanted to visit Sydney; the rest of Australia, so when I saw there was a six-month programme at Surrey, it was one of the driving factors in choosing Surrey Uni.

I was lucky enough to absolutely love my Professional Training placement. It gave me clarity on my future career aspirations and introduced me to a working environment I never would have considered before.

The excellent placement support and Surrey’s proximity to London made it one of my top choices. I chose Surrey as my number one option due to the opportunity to study Economics and Finance rather than pure Economics.
