I am incredibly fortunate to have graduated and gone straight into 'Les Misérables' in the West End as 1st cover Éponine. In fact, I’m doing Les Mis with 11 other "GSAers" (including creatives!), two of whom are from my cohort! We wouldn’t have had this opportunity without GSA.
Course
Musical Theatre BA (Hons)Graduation year
2023Why did you choose Guildford School of Acting at the University of Surrey?
I first went to an open day at GSA for the Musical Theatre course because of its reputation and its illustrious alumni. However, what made me want to study there was that the staff were passionate, friendly and caring.
The atmosphere at GSA felt joyful and safe. I just knew it was the place for me.
What's your favourite memory?
I have so many fond (and funny) memories of my time at GSA! It’s hard to pick just one, but one of my favourite times at GSA was doing my third year show ‘Applause’. To be working with external creatives is such an incredible opportunity that GSA provides. We also got to use all three disciplines and we had such a fantastic time doing it! But what made it so special was working with other students on the Theatre Production course and becoming a proper team with them! I am still so proud to have been a part of that show and regularly play the cast recording!

We wouldn’t have had this opportunity without GSA, as we had in-person auditions with Cameron Mackintosh’s casting team and got our auditions and recalls for Les Mis through that.
To be using the skills that GSA taught me everyday is something very special and I’m so blessed to be doing what I trained to do for a living.
What advice would you give to current students?
My advice is: be bold! Don’t be embarrassed about taking risks or really going for it. Put yourself forward for things, push for what you want, stay proactive and have fun!
I would also say it is incredibly important to be kind and friendly to everyone in all departments, be it dressers, crew, wiggies or front of house. You are all a team and there wouldn’t be a show if you weren’t all working together.
