Nina Colville
My favourite part of the course are the weekly practical sessions, where students are essentially put into a real-working environment, which I find the most efficient way of learning.
Entry year
2023What do you like about your course and why?
I really enjoy my course as it teaches a small fraction of every aspect that you need to know if you want to work in the hospitality industry. For example, some of my modules (both current and previous) include financial accounting, rooms division, food and beverage, service delivery and marketing.
My course ensures every aspect of the industry is taught which is extremely helpful and fundamental.
What's your favourite part of the course so far?
My favourite part of the course is the practical sessions once a week, where students are taught how to make coffees, lay the table in the restaurant, how to present the dishes accordingly, and essentially put into a real-working environment, which I find the most efficient way of learning.
What do you enjoy most about Surrey?
Surrey offers a vast variety of societies, clubs and social activities suited for any type of individual. There are all the essential facilities on campus that are needed for everyday-life, such as a post office, launderette, food store and many coffee shops. It's also a ten-minute walk from Guildford town centre, and a 45-minute train ride to London Waterloo.
Overall the campus location is great as it's very close to the town centre and everything is easily accessible.
