Why did you choose to study your course at Surrey?

I wanted to start a career in sustainability and the University of Surrey really stood out as a place to go and gain knowledge and experience in the field of Sustainable Development.

What were the best things about Surrey and your course?

The intensive teaching weeks meant I could get a deep understanding of a topic in a short amount of time. It also meant I could build stronger connections with the other students on the course and the lecturers which probably wouldn't have been the case if the lectures were just a few hours a week.

What were the best things about life here as a postgraduate student?

The friendliness of the staff and some of the connections I made with the other students on my course. Also, the campus bar (Wates House) is a great place to socialise after an intensive teaching week!

What are your career plans?

I believe the course provided me with a deep understanding of various sustainability-related issues and this helped me massively in finding a job. I have had 2 jobs since finishing the course and I currently work as an Energy & Sustainability Reporting Manager. I plan to stay in this field for the foreseeable future.

What advice do you have for students thinking of doing this course?

If you want to pursue a career in sustainability then I believe this is a great place to gain knowledge and experience. I started not knowing much and finished feeling like an expert.
