Why did you choose to study your course at Surrey?

I chose to study the MSc Sustainable Development course at Surrey as I wanted to develop my passion for the natural world and understand the complexities required to address the climate emergency. Surrey was the perfect place for this as the course offered a mixture of real world applicable modules with those that enable critical thought around what a sustainable world can look like. 

 

What are the best things about Surrey and your course?

Surrey offers a comfortable yet challenging work environment, with excellent facilities. My course was delivered in such a way that felt encouraging for discussion and learning, offering seminar like lectures that enabled critical discussion at a reasonable pace for learning. I particularly enjoyed the plethora of external talks from industry experts offered as part of the many interesting and unique modules. 

 

What were best things about life here?

The flexibility of choosing your modules to tailor your degree in areas you wish to explore further. Additionally, the ability to approach any lecturer with questions you know will be taken seriously and explored/explained to their best extent. 

 

What are your career plans?

My career plans are wonderfully simple. I wish to make the largest impact possible on both mitigating and adapting to climate change. wherever I feel I can make the most impact, I will seek to develop towards it. 

 

What advice do you have for prospective students?

If you have an interest in the natural world and our way of life on this planet, don't hesitate to learn as much as you can about it. This course will have you both inspired, but also dismayed. I implore all that seek to make an impact in their careers and on our way of life, to embrace this course.
