Abstract
Over the last years, Data Science and Machine Learning gained a lot of attention. But what do machines really learn? And how? In this talk, I will introduce supervised and unsupervised learning problems such as regression analysis, classification, clustering, and dimensionality reduction. Furthermore, I will show how data-driven methods can be used to analyze high-dimensional dynamical systems and highlight potential applications in molecular dynamics and fluid dynamics.
