Research groups and labs
The Brain and Behaviour section brings together several research labs and researchers that investigate the neurocognitive basis of human behaviour across the lifespan in both non-clinical and clinical populations.
Overview
We are part of the Combined Universities Brain Imaging Centre (CUBIC), the Brain Nutrition Gut Microbiome (BUG) group - an interdisciplinary, cross-faculty research group at the University of Surrey, and the Surrey Reproducibility Society.
Our research is generally on the theme of lifelong health, and we carry out research on sleep, development, ageing and mental well-being to understand health and disease.
Social Brain and Development Lab
The Social Brain and Development Lab is headed by Kathrin Cohen Kadosh.
It is also part of the Brain Nutrition Gut Microbiome (BUG) Research Group.

Simon Evans Lab
Current projects
- Investigating links between cardiometabolic, sleep, cognitive, and brain structural variables (Baependi Cohort study)
- Investigating the contribution of autonomic nervous system dysfunction to risk of sleep disruption and mood disorders, and effects of meditation and mindfulness practise
- Investigating brain structural differences in psychosis, and how these associate with cognitive performance and insight into symptoms

The NeuroModulation (NeMo) Lab is headed by visiting lecturer Ines Violante, and has on going research through Valeria Jaramillo, Prince Okyere and Tobias Raufeisen.
