Course
Nursing Studies (Registered Nurse Children and Young People Nursing) BSc (Hons)Choosing Surrey
I liked the University’s large campus and the green areas such as the lake, and the new Kate Granger Building was very appealing. I also liked that the campus is close to London.
My first impression when I got here was that the lecturers were friendly and the study areas were modern and up to date.
My placements
I enjoyed the different placement opportunities I had, especially my four-week elective placement in Ghana.
I always wanted to do my elective internationally to see a different healthcare system and diseases that aren’t common in the UK. I love travelling so it was a perfect opportunity to see a part of the world I wouldn’t necessarily visit as a tourist. Highlights were bonding with a nurse who I'm still in contact with and seeing multiple births during the week I spent on the labour ward.
My Surrey experience
In my second year I joined the football team and spent most of my time socialising with them!
If I had to describe my time here in three words I'd say: social, busy and active.
Looking to the future
I am going to take some time off, then I plan to pursue the mental health route (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)).
