My research at Surrey

I came to Guildford to do research at the prestigious MATTU surgical unit, under Professor Rockall. As part of the project, I enrolled onto the MD programme at Surrey. I found the University to be highly understanding about the busy timetables that clinicians face. I had to juggle on-call commitments, clinics and events at the MATTU with running an intensive clinical trial, for the first time in my life.

Fortunately, I had fantastic support and guidance from my academic supervisor, Dr Martin Whyte. In addition, whenever I needed extra resources and expertise from the University, Martin was able to connect seamlessly with University colleagues to provide help and assistance. My experience with the Doctoral College, especially Alexia Smith, was excellent.

The Researcher Development Programme helped me to navigate the final strait after I returned to full-time clinical and needed that extra push to get me over the line.
