Entry year
2019Studying at Surrey
My employer is incredibly supportive of professional development so when the opportunity came about to extend my studying and develop my skills as a Children’s Community Nurse at the same time as studying for my masters degree, I snapped it up!
Initially, I felt very apprehensive about starting at university as I hadn’t studied for a while and had a busy home life. Any feelings of anxiety were soon dealt with, as both the University and my fellow students were really supportive.
I love being a children’s nurse as children are just brilliant even when going through challenging experiences. I love being able to enable children to stay out of hospital as much as possible. The course really opened my eyes to the bigger picture of community nursing.
The course is a mixture of learning styles, being on campus and in practice. Having this flexibility really supported putting what I was learning into practice.
The staff were all incredibly supportive and have been accessible throughout my studies.
Looking back
Anyone thinking about applying for Surrey, I would say go for it! It's an amazing university with great facilities and lovely walks around the lake.
Studying at Surrey has really enhanced my confidence and helped me focus on the next stages of my career and the possibility of completing further modules in the next couple of years.
At graduation, when you sit in the cathedral with all the other graduates, you realise just what an amazing achievement you have accomplished!
