Cafés
An independent coffee shop at the heart of campus, serving Chimney Fire Coffee from the Surrey Hills, along with the finest snacks, cakes, and pastries direct from the Hillside kitchen.

Tucked away in a cosy corner of the Hillside food building, Zenchai is a specialist bubble tea brand with delicious flavours and a lively atmosphere.

Lakeside Coffee Shop serves barista-style, triple-certified (organic, Rainforest Alliance and Fair Trade) coffee along with a wide variety of other hot and cold drinks as well as cakes, sandwiches and confectionary, run by our students. We care about the planet so we try to use bio-degradable products wherever possible with the help of our supplier, Vegware. From our branded coffee cups and lids to our knives, forks and spoons, everything is compostable.
When: Semester time, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm. Vacation time, Monday to Friday, 8am - 3pm.

We serve fantastic artisan coffee sourced from our new partner, Chimney Fire. With a choice of a light or a dark roast as well as a guest filter coffee, it’s the place for any coffee lover.
To accompany your coffee, our counter is piled high with pastries, buns, doughnuts and cakes.
Fancy a Hideout coffee outside? Visit our pop-up coffee cart based outside Manor Park Reception from the start of semester.

Stageside offers a place to unwind and enjoy speciality coffee and a delicious range of breakfast, lunch and snack options that have been homemade by a passionate team of chefs.
Pastries are baked daily and hot breakfast snack pots from vegan to traditional are available to fuel your day; when it’s time for lunch choose from our wide selection of deep-filled sandwiches, hot eats and vibrant salad boxes. Throughout your day grab something from our range of indulgent cakes and healthy light snacks.
We serve fantastic artisan coffee sourced from Union Hand Roasted Coffee, who are pioneers in roasting and ethical sourcing.

Restaurants
This is a great place for food and atmosphere. It hosts varied seating, from high-backed curl-up chairs to big and small round tables. The food is varied and truly delicious. Try the lunch-sized pizzas, gourmet deli, gorgeous salads and freshly cooked specials: soups, jacket potatoes with various fillings, plant-based street food and home-style comfort food.

Our mouth-watering bar and grill menu features burgers, hotdogs, loaded fries and lots more, alongside vegan and vegetarian options. Got a sweet tooth? Build your own milkshake selecting from our range of chocolates and sweets to create your perfect flavour.
Wates is also a great place to drop in for just a drink or two from our fully stocked bar.

Post office
Inside Simply Fresh you can find the campus post office. They send parcels and letters and can accept free returns through Royal Mail and Parcelforce.

University of Surrey Students' Union (USSU)
All USSU venues are in Union House, the big red building two minutes’ walk from The Hive and five minutes’ walk from the Library.

For decades, our 1550 capacity club has hosted artists and DJs including Stormzy, Aitch, Andy C, Tinie Tempah, Sigala, Sigma, Kano, EZ, Chase and Status, Lethal Bizzle, Example, Pendulum, Jonas Blue, Mostack, Yxng Bane, SubFocus, Krept and Konan to name but a few.

Hari’s Bar is the hidden gem tucked away in Rubix! With warm lighting and cosy booths, it’s the perfect place to grab a drink or an affordable cocktail with your mates. Be sure to turn up early to secure a table for our popular Tuesday Quiz Night.

The Basement is our multipurpose underground space, functioning as our smaller, more intimate club venue. The space can be used for music; arts and creativity; and can be used by clubs, societies and students to host events of their own. During the day, the space is used as a restaurant for Young's Kitchen, in the afternoon BandSoc/CraftSoc/SVGS and other societies use the space, as it can be used for music, arts and creativity of any kind.
However, as the clock strikes 10pm, the space transforms into the intimately loved nightclub, Basement! Artists from Sigma to Dapper Laughs have all drawn a crowd down in The Basement whilst student led nights such as Remedy, Presha, Tesselate and Frat Night have all taken advantage of the intimacy to hold sensational events!
Located downstairs in the Union building, The Front Room is a unique social space ideal for meeting friends, relaxing or just eating your lunch. Full of antique furniture, a pool table and games, it is the perfect place to relax.

Every Thursday our Students’ Union is transformed into a foodie’s paradise, giving you a chance to pick up your groceries or enjoy some freshly-made street food. With everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to bread, cakes, and hot food to take away, there is something for everyone!

With stunning views of our FIFA and World Rugby approved pitches, and coffee locally sourced from Chimney Fire Coffee, Pitchside Coffee is flooded with light in all weathers. The café offers delectable selections of hot and cold drinks, with seasonal specials and barista creations.
The menu provides different options and dietary alternatives in the form of pastries, cakes, breakfast rolls, fruit and yoghurt pots, sandwiches, toasties and salad bowls.
