A project exploring the use of Earth observation (EO) data to support environmental management in Brazil, and highlighting the challenges faced by end-users.
Overview
Supported by SPRINT (Space Research and Innovation Network for Technology), this project with sustainability reporting specialist Ecometrica is funded by the Universities of Surrey and Reading NERC SCENARIO Doctoral Training Partnership.
An important part of the research has focused on an under-explored area – the perspective of end-users of EO data. Research published in Sustainability reveals that some of the factors limiting use of EO include lack of suitably trained personnel and financial resources, and poor communication.
