About the scheme
Our placements give you a competitive edge, giving you opportunities to gain confidence, maturity and knowledge, find a focus for your final year of study, test out a career path, discover new professional possibilities, become an industry-ready individual, network in your industry, and increase your employability potential.
How it works
Professional Training placements typically take place between your second and third years of undergraduate study and can be up to 12 months in length. You can also choose to work abroad.
To enrol on an undergraduate course with an optional Professional Training placement, you must apply for this via UCAS. These are listed as 'sandwich' courses and have different course codes to our standard programmes.
If you have applied for a standard undergraduate programme, you may be able to move onto the Professional Training placement version of this, if you haven't already started your studies. To explore this option, please contact the Admissions team for further assistance.
My placement year at Shoosmiths LLP was such a valuable experience, I completed my placement year and the team I was in asked me to stay part-time during my final year of university. This allowed me to develop stronger relationships and pursue a career within Shoosmiths.Amelia Hicks, Law with Criminology LLB (Hons)
My placement at GSK gave me real insight into the world of work and made me realise it’s not as scary as you think. People want you to do well and by networking early on you will set yourself up for success.Sophia Bell, BSc (Hons) Psychology
