Dr Rahul Sanwlani
Academic and research departments
Section of Cardiovascular Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, School of Biosciences.ResearchResearch interests
Rahul Sanwlani is a Research fellow at the School of Biosciences, University of Surrey in Dr Patrizia Camelliti’s group. His research is focused primarily on understanding the role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) as mediators of intercellular communication in pathophysiology. Currently, he is studying the role of EVs in cardiac pathology. Prior to this, Rahul pursued his doctoral studies investigating the role of dietary and probiotic EVs at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. During his doctoral studies, Rahul identified the novel potential of dietary and probiotic EVs from bovine milk, yogurt and probiotic bacteria in regulating cancer progression. The findings had profound implications in cancer outcomes in triple negative breast cancer models, potentially paving way for novel treatment regimens to allow improved prognosis and management.
