Biography
I qualified as a doctor after completing an undergraduate degree in Physiology and Psychology. During my medical school training I was employed as a research assistant to Professor Eva Alberman (Professor of Clinical Epidemiology) at the London Hospital Medical college. This experience led me to undertake specialist training in Epidemiology and Public Health as a registrar and senior registrar in central London.
After a career break, I developed my medical education expertise in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health at the University of Southampton medical school where I was involved in teaching medical students and completing a review of the public health curriculum.
Since 2017, I have established the University of Surrey's new postgraduate Physician Associate (PA) programme as one of the best in the UK by delivering outstanding results in the PA National Assessment. I worked with the General Medical Council Project Management team for Medical Associate Professions from 2020-22 to create a new curriculum for PA education. I represented the views of a diverse group of PA course leaders from all four countries of the UK.
I took up a new role as Lead for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences in January 2024. I look forward to combining my previous experience of programme development, student support and strategic working with my passion for innovative higher education to ensure successful integration of genuine interprofessional learning opportunities and development of the strategic vision of the Faculty.
