SHTM partners with Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia to educate next-gen tourism professionals

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) is delivering a bespoke week-long hospitality management short course for Saudi tourism professionals. This is the second edition of the Tourism Trailblazers programme from the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia.

Tourism Trailblazers is a training programme that aims to train 100,000 Saudis who are working in the tourism sector to equip them with the necessary skills as well as enabling them to obtain globally accredited certification in tourism.

Professor Iis Tussyadiah, Head of School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, said: "we were delighted to host a group of talented learners from Saudi Arabia for the Tourism Trailblazers programme. Their passion and dedication to hospitality management were inspiring. Through partnering with the Ministry of Tourism in Saudi Arabia for this programme we aim to create a positive impact towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 17 by upskilling key tourism talent from Saudi Arabia to support the nation's tourism industry".

At SHTM, the learners are taught by world-leading academic staff in areas of operations management, revenue management, marketing, finance, talent management, leadership, responsible tourism, and digital innovation.

The first batch of learners completed their training last week and we are hosting more learners in the coming weeks. The photo shows  one of our graduates, Mohammed Almarshad.
