Public climate workshops

A big shout-out to Professor Prashant Kumar, Valentine Seymour, Jeetendra Sahani and their team for delivering two sold-out climate workshops to children at Zero Carbon Guildford

Linking with the ESRC Festival of Social Science theme of 'Our Digital Lives', we took young people and their parents/carers to the streets of Guildford to get hands-on with thermal imaging cameras, and learn about the thermal properties of literally everything - including buildings, trees and dogs!

The workshop team are part of the Heat-Cool Programme at the University of Surrey, that aims to teach young people how energy heats and cools our planet.

Participants took away a greater understanding of the impact of urbanisation in their local community, common heat sources in their built environment, and how the negative effects of these can be offset by green and blue infrastructure and small changes in our homes and gardens.
