Contexts, Culture and Creativity

The National Resource Centre for Dance (NRCD) and University of Surrey School of Arts (Dance) were awarded a grant from JISC of £122,391. The project, Contexts, Culture and Creativity: Enriching E-Learning in Dance (CCC-EED), was part of JISC’s content programme for 2011-13, with aims to create and embed open educational resources, which enhanced student-centred learning and maximized the use of digital resources and collections, in the dance education sector.

Background

University of Surrey academic dance staff, led by Professor Rachel Fensham, collaborated with staff in the NRCD to design enriched e-learning packages utilising the NRCD’s archive content and which were distributed via the VLE and Digital Dance Archives (DDA) website. The learning packages aimed to emphasise cultural and contextual content, and creative modes of using digital resources in the learning environment.

The project started in November 2011 and ran until January 2013.  It employed two project staff and University of Surrey staff involved in the project’s development and management: Professor Rachel Fensham, Dr Melissa Borelli-Blanco, Dr Jean Johnson-Jones, Jennifer Jackson, Efrosini Protopapa, and Sharon Maxwell and Helen Roberts from the NRCD.
