Santander Universities
The University has been part of the Santander Universities Network since 2007, providing funding for international mobility opportunities for students and staff, entrepreneurship activities, internships and Portuguese language programmes.
PhD Mobility Awards
The Santander PhD Mobility Awards aim to provide PhD students with the opportunity to visit a university overseas for up to six months. Awards of up to £2,000 are available for mobility between the University of Surrey and Universities based overseas. Priority will be given to host Universities that are included in the Santander Universities Network and align with the University of Surrey's International Engagement Strategy.
The second call for 2021/22 Funding is now open with an application deadline of 3 March 2022, 23:00 GMT. Students are directed to the MySurrey PGR Work Placements page for information about how to apply and other funding opportunities.

Student mobility scholarships
Mobility Scholarships are available for undergraduate and postgraduate taught students to undertake an international experience to select destinations. Students can access more information on the study and work abroad pages.
Student Enterprise Propeller Fund
The Student Enterprise Propeller Fund is aimed at pre-start up student businesses, and can provide students with pre-seed funding of up to £800 provided by Santander.
Student Enterprise Cube Fund
The Student Enterprise Cube Fund is aimed at early-start-up student businesses, and can provide students with seed funding from Santander of up to £1,200 for business development purposes.
Student Enterprise Founderships
Students and recent graduates can pitch for a Foundership funded by Santander through Student Enterprise and, if successful, will receive a grant of between £1,000 - £3,000 to enable them to spend time working on their business over the Easter or summer break. This is a highly competitive prize and will be announced ahead of the two holiday periods.
Funded internships
The fantastic Santander internship programme allows student to explore their entrepreneurial potential through working within small companies incubated within Student Enterprise or SETsquared Surrey. Numbers vary year on year, and applications will be announced in the Spring.
Funded Incubation
Every year Santander fund at least one promising young tech company into the SETsquared Surrey incubator. This membership lasts for one year and offers mentoring support and business acceleration to help the company reach its potential.
Digital Entrepreneurs Programme
Santander has provided funding for Student Enterprise to provide 10 students and graduates with the opportunity to attend a specialist entrepreneurs' bootcamp aimed at taking their digital business to the next level. This programme is designed to be very practical and hands-on and founders will be putting theory into practice on their own business.
The programme culminates in the opportunity to pitch their business model to a panel of experts before a speed mentoring session. Applications are promoted through Student Enterprise once a year.
