SEE-IT future involvement mailing list privacy notice
The School of Health Sciences SEE-IT Research Team is part of University of Surrey.
The School of Health Sciences Pre-Hospital Emergency Research Team holds and processes personal data about members of the public.
The personal data we hold about you consists of your email address, who you are e.g. member of the public, clinician and/or academic/researcher, your interest in being involved in future research relating to SEE-IT and your country of residence. We only collect the data we need and keep that data up to date.
We receive this data from you when you complete the form and register your interest to be included on our SEE-IT future involvement mailing list.
The University collects only the data we need and we keep the data up to date and only for as long as it is needed.
We collect your personal data in order to:
- Contact you vie email to ask you about opportunities to get involved with future work related to SEE-IT. Each time we contact you, we will provide you with details on how to unsubscribe from the mailing list if you no longer wish to be contacted, otherwise we will keep your details indefinitely for this purpose.
- Contact you via email to ask for your feedback on our research, related to SEE-IT
- Monitor who is interested in the SEE-IT Study (and research relating to the use of technology in the pre-hospital emergency setting).
We take our obligations for data handling very seriously and it is therefore important for you to know the lawful basis for us processing your information:
We process data to ensure that we can carry out our public role as an educational and research establishment, meeting legal, moral and contractual obligations as laid out in the University’s Charter.
We process your data because you have given us your consent to do so, specifically by agreeing to be contacted by the University of Surrey Pre-Hospital Emergency Research Team and by providing us with your email address, by telling us who you are, your country of residence and your interest in us keeping you informed about our research. If at any point after you have provided us with your personal data you decide you do not wish to be contacted or would like to update your details, please contact the SEE-IT Team at see-it@surrey.ac.uk or Professor Cath Taylor at cath.taylor@surrey.ac.uk.
We do not use the data we collect to make decisions about individuals or to analyse information on an individual level.
The University processes personal data and special category data in accordance with data protection legislation and its own Data Protection Policy.
We collect the data about you so that we can contact you to share any future research related to SEE-IT, and the use of technology in the pre-hospital emergency setting. The data is then kept in a database and used to achieve the purposes stated above.
We keep your personal data in accordance with the University’s retention schedules. This means that your data is kept for as long as you are subscribed to the mailing list and then destroyed/passed to the University’s historical archive for permanent preservation.

We will not share your information with anyone outside of the University of Surrey Pre-Hospital Emergency Research Team.
As an individual whose data we process (a data subject), you have certain rights in relation to the processing. You can find detailed information about your rights as a data subject on the University’s webpage.
You have the right to:
- Withdraw your consent for us to process your personal data [please contact either see-it@surrey.ac.uk or cath.taylor@surrey.ac.uk if you would like us to remove your data from our database]
- To ask us to confirm that your personal data is being processed and to access (i.e. have a copy) of that data as well as to be provided with supplemental information about the processing.
- Request that we rectify any inaccuracies where the data we hold on you is inaccurate or incomplete
- To have your data erased by us, although in certain circumstances we may not be able to do this. The circumstances where this applies can be found in the data subject rights information on the University’s webpage
- To restrict the processing of your personal data in certain ways
- To obtain your personal data for reuse
- To object to certain processing of your personal data.
