Eligibility
If you are eligible to graduate, you will receive an invitation sent to your Surrey email address and personal email address if provided.
Postgraduate eligibility
You are eligible to graduate if you have been awarded a postgraduate certificate, diploma or higher degree from the University, or where the recommendation for the award of a degree is expected to be considered on, or before 26 February 2025.
For those being awarded a research degree, the final deadline for uploading the approved final e-thesis to the Library repository is 10 February 2025. Uploading by this date should enable the e-thesis team to confirm successful deposit in time for the Chair of the Awards Board to consider you for a February award.
If you do not expect to be awarded a higher degree until after the February date, you are not eligible to attend a graduation ceremony until April 2026. You will receive similar information when your programme of study has been completed.
Undergraduate eligibility
You are eligible to graduate if you have been awarded a first degree from the University, or where the recommendation for the award of a degree is expected to be considered on, or before 30 June 2025.
Provisional examination results are published by most Boards of Examiners as soon as they are available and are subject to approval by the Student Progression and Award Board on Wednesday 25 June 2025. The University will inform any candidate whose result is changed.
We always advise you book your graduation tickets before you know whether you have passed, even if you think you may need to retake the year. If you wait to book your tickets you may face disappointment if there are no guest tickets remaining.
If you are not eligible
If you have purchased your tickets but you are unable to graduate, then we can offer you a refund.
Debts to the University
Please note that degrees will not be conferred if tuition debts to the University are outstanding by the deadline of Friday 10 January 2025 if you are attending a ceremony in April and Friday 6 June 2025 if you are attending a ceremony in July.
A student owing tuition fees to the University will not be considered for the award of a degree or diploma, and therefore will not be included in the list of graduands for presentation or officially published in the Gazette of Degree Awards, until those fees are paid. In order to avoid delays in the banking system, payment by cash or credit card is strongly recommended. Find out more information on payment methods to pay your fees.
Once you have paid your debt, the system should take approximately 24 hours to update. Only once the system has processed your payments may you proceed to booking your tickets. Please note: If you attempt to do this too quickly after clearing your debt, you may fail to log into the site.
