Gwilym Owen
RECLAIM Advisory Board Member, Resilience Officer, Cardiff Council
Biography
Gwilym Owen is a RECLAIM Advisory Board Member and Resilience Officer at Cardiff Council. His principal roles involve emergency, resilience and risk planning pursuant to the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act (2004). As surface water flooding is one of the principal risks affecting Cardiff, Gwilym has an interest in promoting an integrated catchment management approach to addressing the dangers to the city posed by the effects of climate change on the 3 main rivers that Cardiff sits on. This includes an interest in the opportunities that green and blue infrastructure can achieve as relevant adaptation and mitigation solutions.
Simon Dooley
Team Leader Flood and Coastal Risk Management, Cardiff Council
Biography
Simon Dooley is the Team Leader for Cardiff Council’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management Team who operate as The Local Lead Flood Authority (LLFA). The LLFA have a wide range of statutory duties including the mitigation of flood risk from an ever-changing climate. Cardiff Council’s coastal scheme is an extensive project that will protect over 1500 homes from Coastal and Fluvial flood risk.
