Associate Professor Sebastian Pfautsch

Biography
Dr Sebastian Pfautsch is an Associate Professor at the Urban Transformations Research Centre at Western Sydney University. His trans-disciplinary research is built around the complex issue of urban heat. He develops innovative and practical solutions for government organisations and industry to cool urban spaces at a range of spatial scales – from small playgrounds to entire district council areas. His high-quality research is documented in the form of more than 100 papers, reports and books. His work regularly features in the media (even the BBC: Life at 50C) and in 2021 alone led to more than 350 headlines in 21 countries, published in 5 languages and reached more than 1 billion people.

Biography
Dr. Steffen Lehmann, AIA, AA. Dipl. (born in Stuttgart, Germany) is an internationally recognized educator, scholar, author, designer, scientific researcher, and strategic leader. He is a senior tenured Professor of Architecture & Urbanism, and former Executive Director of three schools of architecture, including the UNLV School of Architecture in Las Vegas. He is also the Director of the interdisciplinary Urban Futures Lab, and CEO of the Future Cities Leadership Lab Institute, where he is translating a strategic outlook into programmatic initiatives and positive impact, dealing with a rapidly changing profession and transforming society. Before joining UNLV, Steffen Lehmann was a Research Professor of Architecture Innovation at the University of Portsmouth in the UK, and the chair-holder of the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Urban Development for the Asia-Pacific Region.
