Abstract
Quantum Mechanics represents one of the major achievements of modern science. Yet, even after establishing itself as the language we use to describe the microscopic world of particles and interactions, it is, as of today, still largely shocking and is completely counter-intuitive when inspected for the first time. In this talk, I shall begin by giving a brief historical perspective on some of the turbulent processes in which the theory was created. I shall then exemplify its power by describing one of the early-days classic experiments: the Stern-Gerlach experiment.
