This workshop focuses on gender and immigration. The first panel examines gender representation, the creation and recreation of occupational segregation, and an analysis of retrogressive politics across EU member states, with illustrative examples from Sweden and Romania.
The second panel presents papers on immigration detention and refugee camps and the lived experiences of people who are confined. The immigration detention centres and refugee camps are perceived as borders (border zones and sites of border control) and the panelists shed light on what happens to people after they cross them.
