Abstract

I will discuss how higher algebraic structures arise in ordinary field theory via the Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism. I will briefly review L∞-algebras and their homotopy Maurer-Cartan theory introducing higher gauge theory. Finally, I will show how these ideas can be combined to those of twistor theory to discuss self-dual field theory in six dimensions.
