Horizon Europe
Horizon Europe is the European Union's (EU) research and innovation program that runs from 2021 to 2027. It's the world's largest research and innovation program.
REDEMOS
The REDEMOS project aims to break new ground and propose a wholesale, transformative reset in conceptualizing, policy-making, and implementing democracy in the EU's eastern neighbourhood.
REDEMOS is an EU-funded project that unites eleven research-oriented and academic institutions—including six universities, four independent think tanks, and one small and medium-sized enterprise from across Europe. The initiative aims to address the fragile state of democracy in Eastern Europe and to propose a transformative reset in conceptualising, policy-making, and implementing democracy support in the EU's eastern neighbourhood.
Coordinated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), REDEMOS conducts comprehensive research on the state of democracy in the region. The project seeks to develop policy recommendations enabling the EU to become a more effective and impactful democracy champion. By focusing on active, deliberative approaches, REDEMOS aims to generate an alternative vision for EU democracy collaboration and to inform policy-making at the EU level. At the CBE, Professor Theofanis Exadaktylos oversees the REDEMOS project at the University of Surrey.
The research is conducted over a three-year period (2023–2025), with the goal of understanding and addressing the main challenges to democracy in the EU's eastern neighbourhood. The project also emphasizes ensuring that the voices of marginalized groups are heard in the democratic process.
PROTECT: the right to international protection. A pendulum between globalisation and nativisation?
PROTECT is an EU-funded research project launched on 1 February 2020. It studies the UN's Global Compacts on Refugees and Migration as key solutions to handle global refugee flows.
