There is a wide range of genres and module choice within the course – I can learn classical violin performance while also studying popular music analysis and musicology. There are huge opportunities to collaborate with other students from different year groups and courses, especially in the Music Project module.

Anne Marie's research explores a possible link between music performance anxiety and how performers relate to the music they are playing and engagement with multi-modal learning approaches in violin pedagogy. Multi-modal in this instance refers to aural learning, imitation, improvisation, analysis and historical knowledge.

Surrey offers an extremely diverse and versatile course which has allowed me to mould the degree to my personal and professional interests".

I’ve been impressed with how Surrey has dealt with the pandemic. They’ve done their best to keep up student morale by setting up events where they can and opening up social spaces such as Rubix lounge, The Marquee and the lake.

The networking aspect was incredible at Surrey – a lot of modules are shared between the three music courses, which allows for different connections to take place.

In a word, Surrey seemed like 'home' and I already felt a part of the PATS community before I’d even had a confirmed offer.  My overwhelming sense of drive and ambition for music made Surrey a place I felt destined to be a part of.
