Taking part in the placement module can offer valuable insights into your career and future prospects. It allows you to gain hands-on experience by working for a company and truly understanding what it's like.

My favourite part of the course is the time spent in the teaching labs. When you are in the lab, you get your hands “dirty” and apply everything you have been taught in lectures and learn through experience. Nothing compares to the joy you feel when something you have been working on very hard, finally comes to life!

My time at Surrey has had a profound impact on my employability post-graduation. The course content, which is always up-to-date with the latest trends, has equipped me with cutting-edge knowledge and skills.

Ever since I stepped foot on campus for the first time, Surrey felt like a home to me. With everyone at the university being so friendly and helpful I had no doubt, I’d have an incredible experience by choosing to study here.

My main role as a creative producer was to create 25 or 30 second trailers for National Geographic shows. It was an amazing opportunity; as part of my role I had a lot of creative freedom and had to come up with concepts, pitch them to the managers, and then edit and write the script for the promos.

One of the highlights of my placement at GlaxoSmithKline was the additional skills I didn’t expect to learn in a lab-based setting, such as procurement, project management, event planning and EHS engagement.

If you have the opportunity to do a placement, go for it. You will learn so much about yourself, the field you are in and what career opportunities are out there.
