Biography
Sophia’s expertise in economics and econometrics serves as the foundation for her research in applied health econometrics and health economic evaluation, where she employs rigorous analytical methods to address complex issues in healthcare economics and decision-making. She graduated with distinction with a master’s degree in health economics from the University of York. Sophia also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Jinan and Shanghai International Studies University in China.
Sophia is particularly interested in exploring how AI and machine learning technologies can revolutionize healthcare delivery, improve patient outcomes, and enhance efficiency in health systems. Before joining Surrey Health Economics Centre, Sophia interned as a placement student in the public health team at the York Centre for Health Economics, where she completed her dissertation. Her dissertation focused on using machine learning methods to address priorities and inequalities issues surrounding waiting times for hip replacement surgeries in England. Currently, Sophia is involved in a project on AI-assisted Automatic Dental Disease Detection with Radiography, where she will be working closely with the team to explore the application of AI and machine learning in dental care.
