Biography
I qualified as a NMC registered Midwife in 2003 and spent a large amount of time working across all areas of the Maternity services including Caseloading Midwifery, Traditional team community midwifery, a stand-alone birth centre, an integrated birth centre, and a busy consultant-led labour ward. I spent time as a labour ward coordinator, a Practice Development Midwife and an Audit, CNST, Risk & Compliance Midwife.
I completed my PgCert in Education here at the University of Surrey in 2016 and have worked here as a Midwifery lecturer ever since. I became a Cohort Lead in 2021, then Field Lead in 2023 and became the Programme Director in 2024.
Here at the University of Surrey I am proud of our Teaching & Research Excellence, our Community and our excellent Student Support.

Sharing Ideas: Working Together at the FARM.
This article is not about the agricultural aspects of Midwifery, or about the Ina May Gaskin facility in the US. FARM stands for Facilitated feedback And Reflective Meetings and this was the model I created, to address issues for students around learning, mentorship and isolation when on community placements.
