Professor Stephen Witt

Biography
Professor Stephen Witt started his academic career as an econometrician at the University of Bradford Management School, UK. At the age of 40 he was appointed to the Lewis Chair of Tourism Studies at the University of Swansea Management School. After 10 years he moved to the University of Surrey where he took up the post of Chair of Tourism Forecasting in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. He was awarded the title Emeritus Professor upon his retirement from Surrey in 2005. Professor Witt has also held lengthy visiting research positions at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; the Centre for Regional and Tourism Research, Denmark; Victoria University, Australia; and Mid-Sweden University. His major research interests are econometric modelling of international tourism demand, and assessment of the accuracy of different forecasting methods within the tourism context. He is a Fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism.
