Awe and antisocial narcissismMy PhD project focuses on whether experiencing the emotion of awe can serve to reduce people's levels of state narcissism and/or narcissistic behaviours, in comparison both to control conditions and also to other self-transcendent emotions. The project will employ several methodologies to investigate this, including a cross-sectional study looking at associations between dispositional self-transcendent emotions and narcissism, a longitudinal diary study, and online survey-, virtual reality- and field-based experiments, as well as seeking to identify mediators in any relationship between awe and narcissism.
