Patrick Degg
About
Patrick joined the University of Surrey in 2017, where now, as Vice-President, Global and a member of the University’s Executive Board, Patrick’s portfolio brings together all of the University’s external engagement activities globally, including:
- Advancement (responsible for managing the University’s relations - both philanthropic and otherwise - with its alumni and supporters)
- Marketing and Communications (including strategic communications, media and public engagement, public affairs, events and marketing)
- International Engagement (academic partnerships, student/staff mobility and trans-national education)
- International Student Recruitment.
Before Surrey, Patrick had a productive 20-year career in investment banking, most latterly as a Managing Director in Hong Kong running ING Bank’s Asia-Pacific Structured Finance business. He took the opportunity afforded by the last global financial crisis to move into university administration, and the role of Director of Development at the University of St Andrews, where he was architect of their hugely successful 600th anniversary £100m fundraising campaign, with HRH Prince William as Patron.
