My research project
Religious identities in healthcare groups working in the NHSMy research is looking to integrate the faultlines and religious identities literatures. Faultlines are the hypothetical dividing lines that can arise in work groups, resulting in subgroup formations that can significantly impact various salient workplace processes and outcomes. The implications of faultlines in the workplace is fairly conflicted as faultlines research has investigated various salient implications of many different types of faultlines. Through investigating a new type of faultlines - religious faultiness, this research could aid in providing some clarity. Therefore, this research will be investigating whether religious faultlines can arise amongst work groups, what the consequences of these faultlines are in the context of a healthcare organisation. Additionally, this research will be investigating how the religious/occupational identity interactions of healthcare professionals might play a potential role in how these religious faultlines are perceived and handled at work.
