Exploring how adolescents and parents make sense of their own/their child’s mental health in the context of the Covid-19 pandemicChild and adolescent mental health has been described as the 'hidden crisis' of the Covid-19 pandemic. Media coverage has warned of the effects of lockdowns, social isolation and disrupted schooling on young people's mental health and many have predicted poor long term outcomes. In light of these narratives, and their own experience of the pandemic, the first project plans to explore how adolescents make sense of their mental health in the context of Covid-19.
Parent's of adolescents are exposed to similar narratives and may become increasingly concerned for their children. Therefore the second project will explore how parents understand their child's mental health in the context of Covid-19.
