About
Biography
After gaining hospitality qualifications in Bournemouth, Karen worked in Michelin-star hotel restaurants in France and Switzerland. She then managed a coffee shop and finally ran a successful in-house staff restaurant for a retail business. Karen joined the team at the University of Surrey in 1998 as a technician developing hands-on practical skills for students. She then studied for a degree in International hospitality Management at Surrey while working, graduating in 2005. Since 2006 she has been a teaching fellow in Hospitality Operations Management. In 2014 she became Programme Leader for the International Hospitality Management degree.
Teaching
Teaching undergraduate first year International Hospitality Management students food and beverage operations within Lakeside and gastronomy for level 5 students.
