My research project
Exploring fathers’ perinatal mental health and the transition to fatherhoodThis research aims to explore first-time fathers' mental health in the peri-natal period (up to 12 months post-partum) within two empirical projects. The first study is particularly concerned with social media use, the expectations fathers may feel about their parenting, and the impact of this on their mental wellbeing. At the end of this brief online survey, fathers will be able to "opt-in" to participate in a second study involving semi-structured interviews. These will focus on their experiences of their role and identity as a parent and partner, and the influences which may impact upon this.
