I first came to the University of Surrey in 2009 to work as a tutor in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) on a pre-sessional summer course. Before coming to Surrey, I worked at the British Council in Tokyo for five years, teaching on a range of English courses and co-ordinating a preparation programme for students intending to study at universities in the UK. I also ran the IELTS and Academic Courses.

In 2017, I took on the role of Programme Leader for the English Language Support Programme (ELSP), which offers in-sessional support to all undergraduate and postgraduate students in academic English and study skills.
In 2019, I became Subject Leader EAP with overall responsibility for all English for Academic Purposes provision at the University.
