Professor David Hendon

Biography
Professor David Hendon is a visiting professor at the University of Surrey and a part-time senior advisor at Ofcom, focusing on spectrum, international strategy and network resilience issues. He is independent chair of the 4G/TV Co-existence Oversight Board established by DCMS, a member of the Smart Meters Steering Group & Strategic Reference Group at DECC, and a non-executive director of Continuum Bridge Ltd and MAC Ltd.
Formerly a career civil servant, Professor Hendon was a director in the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) from 2002 to 2011, where he was responsible for the Department’s business-facing activities and policy for the electronic communications and ICT sectors. Prior to his role with BIS, he held the roles of CEO of the Radiocommunications Agency, which managed UK radio spectrum before the establishment of Ofcom, and chairman of the board of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute.
