Currently looking for volunteers for my Major Research Project: exploring and understanding the experiences of families when a child transitions off-treatment for cancer.
We would like to talk to people who….
- Are a parent of a child who completed cancer treatment between age 7 and 14, and this was at least 3 months ago.
- Are a child/young person themselves who completed cancer treatment between age 7 and 14, this was at least 3 months ago, and are now medically well.
- Are English speaking and willing to take part in an interview, face to face or online. Children/parents can be from the same family, but do not have to be to take part.
Taking part would involve…
- Completing a consent form if you are a parent, and an assent form if you are a child.
- Yourself and/or your child completing an interview with myself, Charlotte, a Trainee Clinical Psychologist. I’m happy to just talk to you, or just your child, or to both of you separately, whichever you prefer. Where both parent and child from the same family would like to take part, interviews will take place separately, unless felt to be too difficult.
Why is this important?
This study aims to highlight and understand parent and child experiences of the transition phase of children's cancer recovery. This is an important part of recovery, both for children who have completed treatment, and their families. Taking part will help bring awareness to and shape recommendations for supporting children and families in future.
Please get in touch for more information cg01029@surrey.ac.uk
Children and parents taking part will be offered a £10 Amazon voucher each as a thank you for their time.
This project has been approved by the University of Surrey ref: FHMS 22-23 059 EGA.
