My research project
Resolving Puzzles: Reducing cognitive dissonance in ‘puzzle films’ for visually impaired audiences through adapted audio description. My project aims to provide blind and/or partially sighted viewers with an effective way to reduce cognitive dissonance when viewing puzzle films. The primary films analysed in the project are all works by director Christopher Nolan, including Memento (2000), The Prestige (2006), Inception (2010) and Tenet (2020). Through the narrative analysis of these films, the implementation of audio introductions and an adapted version of audio description (termed minimal AD), it is the project's aim to reduce cognitive dissonance in puzzle films for blind and/or partially sighted viewers.
