Which criminology degree is right for you?
You’d like to do an undergraduate degree in criminology? You’re in the right place! Here at Surrey, we offer five pathways to study criminology. Let us take you through the differences between our courses so you know what makes each of them special. Of course, they all have some attractive things in common too, so we’ll include those too at the end. Sound a plan? Let’s go!
What do they have in common?
- What is criminal behaviour? What motivates offenders? How does crime impact victims, and which punishments should be imposed on criminals? These are some of the questions you’ll explore on all our criminology courses.
- Study at Surrey and you’ll investigate the cause and effect of criminal actions, the form and outcome of social disorders, the policing and regulation of public disorder, the criminal justice system, and the relationship between behaviours and punishments.
- Our courses combine a friendly, supportive atmosphere with challenging and stimulating programmes of study which build on our expertise, research strengths and areas of specialism.
- We have an outstanding, internationally recognised research reputation and we integrate this vibrant research activity into our teaching, ensuring you will leave your studies with the most up-to-date knowledge in the field.
- Our courses are highly ranked in the UK, sitting 7th for criminology in the Guardian University Guide 2025.
