What you need to know about studying at Surrey Business School

The issues that are shaping businesses now and in the future are the issues that matter to us. By bringing our students and research together, along with the business sector, we are helping to sculpt that future.

I love my course; I have been able to select a wide variety of my modules and focus on what interests me the most. The University often puts on events and Surrey Business School arranges guest lectures with highly successful people in the industry.

June Webb, Business Management (Marketing) BSc (Hons)

Our teaching goes way beyond the classroom

Our students are at the heart of what we do, so it’s important that we offer a valuable participatory experience. We support students to participate in consulting projects, Professional Training placements and arrange collaborations and events with high-quality speakers and businesses from the industry.

We put knowledge into action

Our students are exposed to a host of business issues that help them see the big picture and nurture their problem-solving skills. Networking, influencing and coming up with creative solutions to decision-making and problems is at the heart of the School. Students engage in real-life collaborations, such as launching live marketing activity for brands, working on consultancy projects and conducting market research.

We prepare you for the future

With employability built into the curriculum, it’s no wonder our graduates have gone on to work in major companies such as KPMG, Procter and Gamble, Sony, Huel and eBay. Their roles have ranged from a project manager or business analyst to trainee accountant or recruitment consultant.

We inspire and enable positive change in business and society – through the impact of our research on business, policy and the third sector, and also via our degree programmes that equip students with the values, skills and mindset for employment in blue chip firms or the appetite for entrepreneurial venture creation.

Professor Steve Wood, Dean of the Surrey Business School

Our research is embedded in our teaching

Working together as a community, our students benefit from the research our staff are undertaking. Our research impact includes an investigation into adding value to the convenience retailing sector; research into job quality that was presented to the UK Cabinet Office; and the consequences of artificial intelligence and machine learning that was shared with the Bank of England.

We are a community beyond Guildford

With staff and students from across the world, we have partnerships with 47 global universities and work with thousands of different companies. The diversity of our community adds insight and depth to the School, both from a personal and educational perspective.
