Professor Emily Farran has recently written an article titled:
TIMSS: Could a focus on spatial reasoning improve maths scores?
Following the latest Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) data, there are some particular areas of weakness shown, including geometry (Years 5 and 9), measurement (Year 5) and maths reasoning (Year 9). Emily Farran proposes more attention needed on spatial reasoning in the maths curricula to address these weaknesses.
