U.S. Army awards leadership identity research grant to Dr Yuyan Zheng

A research grant of £26,773 from the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences has been awarded to Dr Yuyan Zheng to investigate ‘Leadership Identity Dynamics in Work and Beyond: Conceptualization, Measurement, and Intervention’.

The project seeks to develop further understanding on the salience of identity for leaders and impacts to leader identity in response to threats including triggers, consequences, and boundary conditions in work and non-work domains. Research questions for the project include: What specific work and non-work events, experiences, and interactions threaten leader identity? How do leaders respond to identity threats? What are the consequences of leader identity threat in work and non-work domains?
