University of Surrey teams up with GEMS Middle East to deliver new Medical Sciences degree course “top-up”
Students around the world will gain access to a University of Surrey BSc in Medical Sciences, thanks to an innovative new partnership between the University of Surrey and GEMS Middle East.
The first cohort of students is expected to begin studying with GEMS Middle East from July 2025, with the course being delivered by Surrey academics through remote learning.
Entry to the University of Surrey intensive top-up course will be dependent on completion of the existing GEMS Middle East Higher Diploma in Preclinical Sciences (MedStart Diploma) and accredited English language proficiency. This top-up course, built on existing, tried-and-tested University of Surrey Biomedical Sciences course-content, will then be delivered through an intensive six-month course.
Graduates of the BSc Medical Sciences will be equipped to work in medical sciences careers, or be eligible to apply – subject to meeting entry requirements – for further study, for example for the University of Surrey’s Physician Associate programme or Surrey’s new, graduate-entry, medicine programme.
By teaming up with the University of Surrey, we’re now able to offer our MedStart Diploma students a pathway to a University of Surrey BSc in Medical Sciences, opening up a wide range of medical sciences career and further study pathways giving our students the key to unlock extraordinary futures.Amir Saadati, Executive Director, GEMS Middle East
