UK must protect AI-generated works to safeguard creative industries, expert warns

"It is vital the United Kingdom provide protections for AI-generated works given the increasing importance of AI in the creative industries. Parliament changed copyright law explicitly to provide this protection in 1988, but some jurisdictions such as the United States have gone in the opposite direction and consider AI-generated content inherently unprotectable. 

"That is a major disincentive to the use of AI to generate and disseminate creative content, and it casts a huge cloud over the creative economy."
