Teaching Fellow Nick Clapham appointed as a Recorder
The School of Law is delighted to report that Teaching Fellow Nick Clapham has been appointed as a Recorder.
Recorders sit as part-time judges and have broadly the same powers as a Circuit Judge when doing so. They are appointed by the Queen on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice following an open competition administered by the Judicial Appointments Commission.
After a period of training and induction Nick will be sitting in the Family Court on the South Eastern Circuit. He will combine his sitting with his teaching in the School.
We congratulate him on this prestigious achievement and wish him well in his new endeavour.
